"The best garden is one you could not have imagined, yet feel as though it has always been there."
— David KeeganFor over two decades, we have been shaping gardens and landscapes that honour the character of their surroundings. Whether a small urban courtyard or several acres of rural land, our approach remains consistent: listen to the site, understand its ecology, then design something that enhances rather than imposes.
We work closely with clients from the first consultation through to final planting, ensuring that every decision — from the choice of ground cover to the position of a dry-stone wall — serves both aesthetic and ecological purpose.
From initial consultancy to full landscape installation, we provide a complete and considered service tailored to each site and each client.
Full design service including planting plans, hard landscaping layout, lighting concept and material specifications.
Walls, pathways, terracing, water features and structural planting. We coordinate with trusted local contractors at every stage.
Habitat creation, native planting schemes, pond design and features that attract birds, insects and beneficial wildlife year-round.
One-off advisory sessions for those who need expert guidance on planting, soil management or landscape planning decisions.
Sensitive restoration of neglected, overgrown or historically significant gardens, preserving existing structure and character.
Detailed seasonal planting schemes for borders, meadows and naturalistic gardens, supplied as standalone documents or full plans.
Ecology & Birding
The presence of birds in a garden is one of the most reliable indicators of ecological health. A well-designed wildlife garden does not sacrifice beauty for function — quite the opposite. The most visually arresting gardens are often those that teem with life.
We integrate birding principles into every project, selecting plants that provide food, shelter and nesting opportunities across all seasons. We advise on the placement of feeders, baths and nest boxes in ways that feel like a natural part of the landscape rather than an afterthought.
Stone is the material that gives a garden permanence. Whether a weathered limestone path, a hand-built dry-stone wall or a carved sandstone feature, stonework grounds a garden in place and time in a way that no other material can replicate.
We work exclusively with natural, locally sourced stone wherever possible, and we insist on traditional laying and jointing techniques. This is not mere aesthetics — it is about durability, drainage and the long-term health of the planting around it.
For those interested in the deeper craft behind natural stone construction and heritage building techniques — from lime mortars to dressed ashlar — the resource La Pierre Angulaire offers excellent reference material on traditional stonework methods that apply as much to garden features as to historic buildings.
